As they did two years ago with a football helmet collaboration, the NFL and CFDA have partnered once again to produce a collection of 50 designer footballs that go on auction today through Feb.14, at NFL.COM/Auction, in support of the NFL Foundation. In celebration of Super Bowl 50, 50 CFDA members have created their own Bespoke Designer Footballs, including such designers as Nicole Miller, Georgina Chapman, Billy Reid, Lisa Perry, Todd Snyder and Betsey Johnson. The balls all have a gold theme, symbolic of the 50th anniversary of the Super Bowl, but otherwise these football creations reflect the distinctive style of each designer.
“We are absolutely thrilled to continue our work with the CFDA and their amazing roster of designers to showcase that fans can merge their love of fashion and football,” said Rhiannon Madden, NFL Vice President Consumer Products. “The auction of these one-of-a-kind footballs that capture the excitement of Super Bowl 50, and bring each designers individual aesthetic to life, will benefit the NFL foundation.”
The designer balls will be unveiled Jan. 20 at the NFL’s offices in New York, and displayed in San Francisco in the week leading up to Super Bowl 50 on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016. The footballs will be featured in NFL Shop at Super Bowl, NFL Experience and On The Fifty, the Super Bowl 50 restaurant, among other NFL events around Levi’s Stadium in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The NFL Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of those touched by the game of football. Through its grant programs, the Foundation supports youth and high school football programs, health and safety efforts such as Heads Up Football, and community health initiatives, including NFL PLAY 60.
