DANNY DAVIS ON THE NEW BURTON EASY LIVIN X MARTIN GUITAR SNOWBOARD
Burton Snowboards, Martin Guitar and Burton Pro Snowboarder Danny Davis are jamming together this snowboard season on the collaborative 2015 Easy Livin Snowboard. Top half-pipe competitor Davis, who competed in Sochi in 2014 as a member of the US Olympic Snowboarding team, following a gold medal win in the Superpipe at the X-Games, is as passionate about music as he is snowboarding. As an avid guitar player and also an ambassador for Martin Guitar, Davis gets to ride his guitar, not just play it, and now we do too.
To create the iconic design of the Easy Livin snowboard, Davis first created a custom guitar with the master craftsmen at Martin. Established in 1833, C.F Martin & Co. has been one of the world’s leading acoustic instrument makers for over 175 years, producing hand-made instruments and strings for musicians around the world. Once the guitar was built, Burton’s design team replicated it for the base graphic of the Easy Livin snowboard, showcasing the Martin fretboard, legendary headstock, strings and body. The top of the board features a guitar-shaped wood inlay that replicates the wood on the back of Davis’s Martin, complete with two Mother Of Pearl foil inlays, inspired by those on his guitar.
On the technical side, the Easy Livin snowboard features three different shapes, each tuned for easy ridin’ on groomers, in powder, or in the park. Riders can choose from a more blunted freestyle shape in the 152, a pointier freestyle design with the 158, or the stock and sturdy all-around feel of the 155.
Now available in select stores worldwide, the limited edition Easy Livin snowboard promises to be a collector’s item for snowboarders and guitar players the world over.
