The new face of ski and snowboard goggles is slim and trim, with rimless, low profile and barely there frames. Most feature quick and easy lens switch systems that can be swapped as fast as the light changes… some without even removing your gloves. This generation of goggles offers wide and unobstructed peripheral vision with clear views left, right, up and down, designed to stay that way with unrivaled anti-fogging and scratch resistant protection. From stealth back to neon orange to shimmery metallics, all these goggles are available in a multitude of color combinations to match any skier or snowboarders slope style. The season is only just getting started. Check out our 8 hot picks for the snowy days ahead!

ROW 1: OAKLEY CANOPY SNOW $200. The expanded lenses and low-profile frame of the Oakley Canopy maximizes peripheral and downward vision. Shown in stealth black above, the Canopy is available in an endless array of color combinations. DRAGON ALLIANCE NFXS $160. A slightly smaller frame than the patented NFX, the frameless design of the NFXs allows for maximum peripheral vision. A Bicycle Built for One: The “Fixie”

Screen shot 2012-09-21 at 10.16.23 AM

The main selling point when buying a bike used to be how many speeds it had. The hottest ride on the street these days is the “fixie”, or the “fixed gear” bicycle, which means one speed only. The pedals are directly tied to the movement of the wheels… you pedal forward, the bike goes forward… you pedal backward, the bike goes backwards. The bicycle and rider are one. There is an appeal in this fundamental simplicity and beautiful design is the result. With so few moving parts, the pared down aesthetic and retro styling makes these bicycles true works of art, reminiscent of the first bicycles ever built.

The fixed gear culture has quite the obsessive following. The objects of desire are the custom builds with carefully chosen frames, handle bars, wheels and other parts, but if you’re looking to pick one up ready-to-ride, here are a few beauties I have found. CLICK CAPTION FOR SHOPPING INFO
